Comfort level
Comfort, like quality, is a highly subjective concept, so when we travel, we usually rely on the European star rating system to choose accommodations. However, star ratings do not provide information about the ambiance of a place, its location, the hospitality of the hosts, or the opinions of other guests. That's why we have decided to create our own classification of accommodations, taking into account not only the "official" category but also a set of other factors: personal style, local character, traditional architecture, tranquility, location, and overall charm.
In general, most of the accommodations we choose are in the 3*** category. In the case of agritourism or B&B, we aim for an equivalent category. Some hotels have a 4**** rating. On rare occasions, we use accommodations with a 2** rating. These always have private bathrooms. Many of the selected accommodations feature a swimming pool.
In certain trips and for justified reasons, rooms may have shared bathrooms or be multiple occupancy, for example, in the case of hostels or mountain refuges. This is clearly specified in the detailed information for each trip.
What type of accommodation will I stay at?

- All our tours are classified by comfort level, ranging from basic to stylish, so you can choose from 4 different comfort levels. For some trips, comfort is crucial, and accommodations have been carefully selected. You can always review the accommodations we work with in the specific tab of each trip.
- Service quality, cleanliness standards, and safety are more important to us than hotel facilities; for us, a friendly welcome and a comfortable bed matter more than TVs and minibars. We prefer smaller, family-run hotels, as they usually offer a warmer welcome, and the money we spend gets reinvested in the local economy.
- We typically choose hotels that don't insist on half-board or full-board packages: this gives you the flexibility to eat where you want and doesn't tie you to the (often rather basic) hotel restaurant.
- Accommodation choices are based on what's available in the places we want to stay: if that means a simple guesthouse, so be it; we choose the accommodation to suit the itinerary, not the other way around.
- For example, we may classify a 2** accommodation as "comfort level 3" if it has simple rooms but offers a pleasant atmosphere, a charming environment, and quality services.
Simple accommodation, often with multiple rooms like huts, cottages or guesthouses. Sometimes with bunk beds and often with shared bathrooms. All camping trips fall into this category.
Simple to good inns, small family hotels, B&Bs and agriturismo (farmhouses), generally with private bathroom. Often chosen for its excellent location in relation to the itinerary.
Good hotels, inns, B&Bs, agriturismo (farmhouses) with en-suite private bathroom, often well-located and serving good meals.
Special hotels with excellent food, ambience and service. Accommodation with a special touch.
