Day 1:    Arrival in Priego de Córdoba

Arrive in beautiful Andalucía and settle into your comfortable 4-star accommodation. After today's journey, you may wish to take a refreshing dip in the swimming pool and then enjoy an aperitif before dinner.

Challenge: Travel to Andalucía.

Day 2:    Cycling routes near Priego de Córdoba (15 - 40 km / 9,5 - 25 mi)

Choose among several options for cycling in the area (15 km / 9,5 mi to 40 km / 25 mi long). All three routes include a visit to the village of Priego de Córdoba and of course the joy of riding along endless country lanes, winding through olive orchards with views of historic Moorish watchtowers.

Challenge: 15 - 28 - 40 km / 9,5 - 17,5 - 25 mi , 300 / 500 / 600 m ascent and descent.

Villages along the way: Priego de Córdoba

Day 3:    From Priego de Córdoba to Montefrio (max. 47 km / 29 mi)

A day for strenuous ascents. From Priego, you ride up and straight through the Sierra Albayate. Then it's on to Montefrío, another lovely village of white-washed houses clustered round a Moorish castle. Your accommodation is a converted traditional olive oil mill and press, recalling the vital importance of liquid gold in this land.

Challenge: max. 47 km / 29 mi, 880 m ascent, 520 m descent.

Villages along the way: Montefrio

Day 4:    Day to rest or to visit Granada

A day to rest and relax or to enjoy an excursion by bus to Granada, a small city with an ancient past and a surprisingly cosmopolitan feel. In addition to the Alhambra, stunning display of Moorish architecture not to missed, the city has other jewels to offer: the enchanting labyrinth of narrow lanes in the Albaycín quarter, the steets lined with tea houses or the impressive Capilla Real (Royal Chapel). Remember to book your Alhambra tickets on-line in advance (optional).

Challenge: Visit Granada and the Alhambra.

Villages along the way: Granada

Day 5:    From Montefrio to Iznájar (48 - 52 km / 26 - 32,5 mi)

Once again the enchanting tapestry of beautiful grey-green orchards on gently rolling hills, waves in a sea of olive trees. Soothing landscapes to purify your soul. Today's route is composed of a short, practically flat section of 8 km / 5 mi on tarmac, and some more demanding ascents but all of efforts rewarded with a long final descent to your hotel in Iznájar

Challenge: 48 - 52 km / 26 - 32,5 mi, 585 / 900 m ascent, 1200 / 1115 m descent.

Villages along the way: Milanos, Algarinejo. El Higueral

Day 6:    From Iznájar / Rute to Zuheros (55.5 km / 34,5 mi )

Today you cycle through a lovely sea of olive orchards and pine woods to the village of Zuheros. On this first leg of your journey, you cycle through foothills beneath the jagged peaks of the Sierra Subbética. The route is fairly long and has two steep ascents, at km 22 / mi 13 and km 28 / mi 17. The last section of the route takes you along the Via Verde, a converted railway cycling path. If you do no wish to stop off in the village of Cabra, you can take the Via Verde earlier and ignore the detour to Cabra.

Challenge: 55.5 km / 34,5 mi, 500 m ascent and descent.

Villages along the way: El Higueral, Rute, Cabra, Zuheros

Day 7:    From Zuheros back to Priego de Córdoba (23 -25 km / 14,5 / 15,5 mi)

A shorter ride today, through the beautiful area surrounding the Sierra Subbética Natural Park. Back at your 4-star accommodation in the country, a refreshing plunge in the pool. This evening, choose from among 3 restaurants for dinner.

Challenge: 23 -25 km / 14,5 / 15,5 mi, 250 m ascent, 360 m descent.

Villages along the way: Zuheros, Luque

Day 8:    End of arrangement

Your arrangement comes to an end today after breakfast.

Challenge: Travel from Priego de Córdoba

REVIEWS

26-10-2021

This was one of the best cycling trips we have ever experienced! The roads were in great shape, the traffic was minimal, the weather was perfect, and the scenery was breathtaking! We cycled through rows and rows of olive trees and cork trees and stayed in beautiful white villages in Andalucia. Our hotel reservations and luggage transport were all planned out with no issues. Thank you to all of the people at S-Cape Travel!

"Great cycling trip with lovely accommodation in southern Spain. The two Zerca hotels, were lovely with great service. All accommodation was good and we got some very nice rooms. Nice to have a pool in all hotels. Bikes were great, and well set up"

18-03-2019

"We made a beautiful and exciting bike ride through the Sierra Subbetica. Good hotels, very nice and helpful people, intriguing nature and good weather. The bike ride was challenging, with a few strong climbs every day through beautiful and scenic landscapes and mostly quiet, well-maintained roads. A reasonable physical condition and experience in cycling in the mountains seems advisabel. Cultural-historical interest is addressed by combining the tour with trips to Cordoba, Granada and Montefrio. Peter, Netherlands, March 2019"
